Glaciers are natural freshwater reservoirs, providing meltwater essential for drinking water, agriculture, industry, and healthy ecosystems (UNESCO, 2025). However, as the planet warms, glaciers are melting at an unprecedented rate, disrupting the water cycle and causing floods, droughts, landslides, and rising sea levels (UN, 2025). These changes threaten billions of people and countless ecosystems, making glacier preservation a survival strategy for both humanity and the planet.
Glaciers hold approximately 70% of Earthโs freshwater, and their preservation is vital for ensuring long-term water security and climate regulation (UNESCO, 2025).

๐๐ ๐๐ฎ๐๐ฎ๐บ๐ฒ๐๐ฟ๐ถ๐ฐ๐ ๐๐๐๐ผ๐ฐ๐ถ๐ฎ๐๐ฒ ๐๐ถ๐บ๐ถ๐๐ฒ๐ฑ, we recognize the interconnectedness of water, climate, and human well-being. Safe water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) are fundamental to health, livelihoods, and dignity, yet millions still lack access to these basic services (WHO, 2025). Inadequate #WASHServices contribute to diseases, malnutrition, and even mortality, particularly among vulnerable populations (Pan American Health Organization, 2025).
As we commemorate this year’s World Water Day, we call on individuals, organizations, and governments to take action. By reducing carbon emissions, supporting sustainable water management, and raising awareness about the importance of glacier preservation, we can safeguard our water resources for future generations.
