Datametrics led the baseline evaluation of UN Women funded Gender Based Violence Intervention in Borno and Yobe States, Nigeria. The project baseline evaluation was conducted among 640 women aged 15 to 45 years and 194 men aged 15 to 64 years in Bama, Maiduguri Municipal Council and Gwoza LGAs in Borno State and Bade, Damaturu and Potiskum LGAs in Yobe State.
The threat of physical violence (93.3%), rape (86.9%), and sexual assault (69.7%) were the top three forms of GBV mentioned. The prevalence of GBV was higher in Yobe (47.3%) than Borno (8.9%) State. Physical assault (2.7%) and forced marriage (1.6%) were the most reported forms of GBV among respondents in Borno State, while rape (21.8%), Sexual assault (6.1%), physical assault (6.1%), forced marriage (10%) and defilement (5.6%) were the most reported forms of GBV among respondents in Yobe State. Knowledge of services available to survivors of GBV in the community was high among respondents in the two States.
