Datametrics Associates Limited, in collaboration with CARE Nigeria, successfully concluded and submitted an Endline evaluation in January 2025 for the “Complementary Protection Assistance Through Sexual Reproductive Health & Access to Justice Interventions” project in Ngala Local Government Area, Borno State.
This initiative aimed to address critical gaps in Sexual and Reproductive Health Rights (SRHR) and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) services for crisis-affected communities in Northeast Nigeria, where years of insurgency have displaced millions and left vulnerable populations without adequate healthcare or protection.
Project Overview
Borno State has endured prolonged insurgency, displacing millions and exacerbating vulnerabilities—especially among women, girls, and persons with disabilities (PWDs).
The project focused on:
- Enhancing access to dignified SRHR and GBV services.
- Strengthening community-based protection systems.
- Building the capacity of health workers in clinical care and Minimum Initial Service Package (MISP).

Datametrics Research Assistants in Ngala LGA receiving Virtual Training via Zoom on the research ethics, qualities of a good interviewer and other fieldwork protocol.
The project achieved significant milestones through rigorous data collection and community engagement. A total of 228 quantitative surveys were completed, capturing responses from women, men, adolescent boys and girls across intervention and control sites. We did a total of fourteen in-depth interviews which provided insights from key stakeholders including GBV survivors, healthcare providers, justice system representatives and community leaders. The research team ensured inclusivity by engaging eleven Persons living with Disabilities in the data collection process.
Prior to fieldwork, ten Research Assistants received comprehensive virtual training on Computer-Assisted Personal Interview (CAPI) tools and ethical data collection protocols, the study protocol and the data collection tools. The virtual training replaced the usual physical training as an adaption to logistical challenges posed by flooding in the region as the time proposed for the training and fieldwork. The training was delivered by the study Principal Investigator & Technical Director of Datametrics Associates alongside other facilitators that include the Research manager and the CARE MOFA program team. The field team conducted strategic advocacy visits to community leaders and IDP camp administrators in Arabic, Kaigama and Zulum camps, which facilitated smooth implementation and strong participation from respondents.
Field operations demonstrated effective methodology with house-to-house surveys conducted in IDP camps and random sampling applied in host communities. The close collaboration with CARE’s Points of Contact ensured high-quality data collection and proper documentation of all findings.
