Datametrics finalized a national tool for Large-Scale Food Fortification Quality Assessment and assessed food fortification Quality in 70 food manufacturing companies in 21 States in Nigeria in collaboration with the Standards Organization of Nigeria. The assessment revealed low compliance across the industry, an urgent need for the finalization and implementation of the Food Fortification Regulation 2021, collaboration and partnership among the three regulatory agencies – National Agency for Food & Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), Standards Organization of Nigeria (SON), and the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC), to strengthen and enforce industry compliance and industry actors, and need for continued industry actions and reporting with guidance from the 2018 Fortification Index.
