Nutrition program evaluation
RTI International, USA/Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN)
September 2022 – October 2026

Datametrics is currently supporting the design and implementation of the impact and process evaluation of the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) Enhancing Access to Safe and Nutritious Diets (ENSAND) program in Kano, Kaduna, FCT, and Kebbi States, Nigeria. The project aims to improve diet quality and resilience for the most vulnerable in Nigeria, by increasing the frequency of egg consumption among students in classes 1-3 in public primary schools and their younger siblings aged 6-59 months in local government areas (LGAs) with a high proportion of bottom of the pyramid (BoP) households. This evaluation uses a parallel group mixed-methods quasi-experimental before-after design to assess the effectiveness of the intervention on children’s frequency of egg consumption in Kaduna (intervention) and Kano (control) States. Quantitative and qualitative data were collected through household surveys with caregivers and school-aged children, and Key Informant Interviews with egg value chain actors, and school feeding program actors. Data analysis and report writing are ongoing.
